About Amanda and Misfit Maker Studio.

Amanda A'Hara is an artist and experienced art educator based in Melbourne

Amanda founded Misfit Maker Studio because she loves helping people to develop their art skills and creativity to become confident artists. Since 2001 Amanda has worked as a registered teacher, teaching art and design in private and public high schools in Auckland, NZ. 


After graduating from Auckland University with a MFA (hons) in 2005 Amanda also ran public workshops teaching photoshop, photography, design and illustration skills at University Summer School as well as private classes for groups and individuals. 


Along with teaching art Amanda works as a freelance designer, illustrator, and mural artist working on graphic design projects and brand design for small companies, label design, privately commissioned murals and book illustration.


In her personal artwork Amanda works with a variety of mediums, such as photography, textiles and painting. Her art work and photography has been widely exhibited and published. Amanda has work in art collections in NZ and Australia and has been a finalist in the NZ Contemporary Art Awards.
